Surplus wire buying questions
How the program works, what we need to price a load, and what falls outside our scope.
What kind of electrical wire do you buy?
Building wire, industrial cable, service-entrance and underground cable, bare copper and grounding conductors, specialty and flexible cable, and medium or high-voltage cable. Copper or aluminum, new or never-installed surplus, on reels, spools, coils or in cartons.
Do you buy partial reels and short cut lengths?
Yes, if the material is identifiable and still usable. Label the reel with the type, size, voltage and remaining footage when you know it, and send a photo of the tag. Partial reels are reviewed individually because footage and labelling drive the offer.
Will you buy wire that has already been installed?
We focus on new surplus, unused and overstock material. Pulled or used wire is reviewed case by case, and we will tell you honestly if it is not something we can take. Send photos of the jacket and the wire ends so we can judge condition.
How is surplus wire priced?
Price depends on the metal, gauge or MCM size, insulation type, voltage class, condition, total quantity and current copper or aluminum market levels. A verified reel tag and clear photos let us quote faster; a mixed pallet with no labels takes longer.
Do you arrange pickup or do I ship?
Both are possible. Many sellers load our truck or freight carrier at their dock; others prefer to ship on their own account. Tell us about dock access, forklift capacity and reel weights in the quote request and we will work out the simplest option.
Do you buy transformers, switchgear or other equipment?
No. This site and this buying program cover electrical wire and cable only — building wire, cable, cord and conductors. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery or vehicles.
What information do you need before you can quote?
Reel tag details if they exist: type, size, voltage, manufacturer and footage. If the tags are gone, the jacket legend plus a tape measure and a photo still gets us most of the way. Location, quantity and condition complete the picture.
Is there a minimum quantity?
There is no published minimum, but freight economics are real: a single 100-foot coil and a truckload of 4/0 are not the same job. Send what you have and we will tell you whether it makes sense to move.
Do you buy wire with damaged or missing tags?
Often yes, if the conductor can still be identified. Legible jacket markings, measured conductor diameter and photos of the cut end are usually enough to establish the construction.
How quickly do you respond?
Usually within one business day. Requests with clear photos and a complete description move fastest because they do not need a follow-up round of questions.
Can you sign a bill of sale or provide paperwork?
Yes. We document what is being purchased, the quantity and the agreed price before material leaves your site. Tell us if your company requires a purchase order, vendor form or specific documentation.
Do you handle reels that are still banded and sealed?
Yes — sealed reels with factory tags are the easiest loads to price. Keep the tag on the reel and photograph it before anything is moved.
What about wire from a demolition or renovation job?
Unused and cut-length cable recovered from a project is welcome. Pulled, used wire is reviewed case by case and we will say honestly when it is not a fit.
Do you buy outside Illinois?
This program is built around Illinois sellers. If you are just across a state line, say so in the request and we will tell you whether we can cover it.

Type, size, footage, condition and a few photos are enough to start a review.
