Copper Wire
Insulated copper, bare copper and grounding conductors in all common sizes.
Office campuses along the I-88 corridor, laboratory and data facilities, and a steady stream of commercial fit-outs make Naperville a reliable source of unused cable.
The I-88 corridor is corporate office, research and data space, and the electrical work behind it is heavy on power distribution, UPS rooms, lab benches and lighting controls. Fit-outs here tend to be clean and specified: MC cable, THHN feeders, tray cable for equipment rooms, and shielded control cable for lab and mechanical systems.
Because these projects are usually managed by a general contractor with a fixed closeout date, surplus is often consolidated in a shop or a storage unit in Naperville before anyone decides what to do with it. That is a good moment to send a request — the reels are still banded and the tags are still legible.
Naperville loads are rarely a single 5,000-pound reel. They are usually a dozen partial reels of #12 and #10, a few hundred feet of 4/0, and a carton or two of control cable. That is fine: we review mixed loads and price each construction separately.
Photograph the group, then the individual tags. A single wide shot with the reels standing together is more useful than twenty close-ups of unlabelled wire.
The businesses below are the usual sources of surplus cable here. We do not claim that any named facility has material available — this is who tends to hold it.
Most Naperville sites have a proper dock and a forklift, which makes pickup simple. Smaller office parks sometimes have neither, so we plan a liftgate delivery-style pickup or ask you to palletize at grade.
We cover the surrounding DuPage and Will County towns on the same runs, including Aurora, Warrenville, Lisle, Woodridge and Bolingbrook.
Dock height, forklift capacity, reel weights, gate hours and any site restrictions. It is the difference between a pickup that works and one that turns around at the gate.
Local FAQ
Yes. Partial reels of THHN, XHHW and MC are the most common material we see from DuPage County fit-outs. A tag and a footage estimate are enough to start.
Sometimes. Access hours, turning space and whether the unit is drive-up all matter. Describe the setup and we will tell you whether a truck can get to it.
Any of these can be quoted from reel tags and photos.
