Copper Wire
Insulated copper, bare copper and grounding conductors in all common sizes.
5 kV, 8 kV, 15 kV, 25 kV, 35 kV and 69 kV+ EPR and XLPE cable, concentric-neutral and shielded constructions, from utilities, industrial plants and contractors.
Medium voltage cable is ordered for a specific feeder or substation, in a specific insulation level and shield construction, and it is expensive. When a project is delayed, re-scoped or cancelled, the reel often stays in the yard because nobody wants to be the person who scraps 15 kV cable.
We buy 5 kV, 8 kV, 15 kV, 25 kV, 35 kV and 69 kV+ cable in EPR and XLPE insulation, with copper tape shields, concentric neutrals or drain wires, in copper and aluminum conductor from #2 through 1000 MCM.
Insulation level, conductor size, shield type, jacket material and manufacturer all affect value, and all of them are printed on the reel tag. A 15 kV 133% EPR cable with a concentric neutral is a different product from a 15 kV tape-shielded cable of the same size, and they price differently.
Send the tag, a photo of the reel end and one of the jacket print. If the cable is cut, photograph the exposed insulation and shield so we can confirm the construction.
Typical voltage classes and constructions. Insulation level (100% or 133%) and shield type should be on the tag.
| Voltage class | Insulation | Typical shield | Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 kV | EPR or XLPE | Copper tape or drain wire | #2 – 1000 MCM |
| 8 kV | EPR or XLPE | Tape shield, concentric neutral | #2 – 750 MCM |
| 15 kV | EPR or XLPE, 100% / 133% | Tape shield or CN | 1/0 – 1000 MCM |
| 25 kV | EPR or XLPE | Tape shield or CN | 1/0 – 1000 MCM |
| 35 kV | EPR or XLPE | Tape shield or CN | 1/0 – 1000 MCM |
| 69 kV+ | EPR or XLPE, high voltage | Metallic shield, lead or jacket | 500 – 2000 MCM |
A bent, kinked or water-damaged MV reel is a different asset.
Medium voltage cable is sensitive to handling. A reel that has been dropped, kinked or stored on its side needs inspection before anyone prices it. Tell us how it has been stored and whether the original wrap is intact.
Cut lengths are reviewed with the same care: the exposed end must show undamaged insulation and an intact shield, and the remaining footage should be measurable. Cable that has been in service, even briefly, is a case-by-case review.
We do not buy terminators, splices, elbows, switchgear or transformers. Cable only.
Call +1 (614) 715-3047 with the reel tag in front of you. If the tag is gone, a tape measure and a photo of the cut end gets us close.
Questions
Yes, if the remaining footage is known and the insulation and shield at the cut end are undamaged. Send a close-up of the end and the reel tag so we can confirm the construction.
It refers to the insulation thickness relative to the voltage class, and it affects where the cable can be used. Both are bought; the tag states which one you have, and the two are priced separately.
Possibly. Sun exposure degrades the jacket and water can track under a damaged wrap, so the reel is inspected before an offer is confirmed. Photograph the wrap, the tag and the reel end.
Loads are often mixed. If your reels span more than one category, send the whole list in one request.

SER, SEU, URD and USE-2 service-entrance and underground distribution cable.
We review every request and reply with a quote or the questions that would let us price it.
Send the wire type, footage or reel count, and a few photos. We review every request and reply with a quote or a request for more detail.
